Take Time To Exercise

Feel healthy inside and out
There is a great deal of truth in the saying that a healthy body promotes a healthy mind. This is partly because exercise is a mood enhancer. The endorphins released when engaging in physical activity make us feel good. They are happy hormones.

Why take the time to exercise?
It is sometimes difficult to get started if you are unfit, but you will feel the benefits immediately once you do get active. It is also a great way to become more social and meet new people.

Get Outdoors to get healthy
Northern Ireland Image consultant Billy Dixon, who has worked with two Priministers and an Irish presidency candidate among others, states that “All of the sports managers, business and polictical leaders that I have worked with, have one thing in common. On the eve of their big game, big speach or big event, they take a walk in nature! This gives them the clarity of mind they need and focuses their thoughts by tuning in all of their senses.”
Taking a walk in nature doesn’t require costly gym membership and there are no large mirrors forcing you to stare at images of yourself while running on the treadmill. Walking, is in fact, free and anyone can do it. If you need extra encouragement, Northern Ireland Volunteer Walking Groups are available in all areas for anyone sixteen and over. If you are under sixteen why not encourage a parent to take you along. Northern Ireland Walking for Health Groups. Educate Weight recommends walking as great exercise during stressful exam periods. Walking is moderate aerobic exercise which lowers calories and lowers cortisol (stress hormone levels).

Sunlight and Vitamin D
Exposure to ultraviolet light is necessary for the body to produce the active form of vitamin D. Ten to fifteen minutes of sunlight without sunscreen on the hands, arms and face, twice a week is sufficient to receive enough vitamin D. This can easily be obtained in the time spent riding a bike to work or taking a short walk. In order to reduce the risk for skin cancer one should apply sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or more, if time in the sun exceeds 10 to 15 minutes

What is Vitamin D
Vitamin D plays a critical role in the body’s use of calcium and phosphorous. It works by increasing the amount of calcium absorbed from the small intestine, helping to form and maintain bones. Vitamin D benefits the body by playing a role in immunity and controlling cell growth. Children especially need adequate amounts of vitamin D to develop strong bones and healthy teeth. The primary food sources for vitamin D are milk and other dairy products fortified with vitamin D. Vitamin D is also found in oily fish (e.g., herring, salmon and sardines) as well as in cod liver oil. Remmber In addition to the vitamin D provided by food, we obtain vitamin D through our skin which produces vitamin D in response to sunlight.

Indoor Work Outs
It is not always possible to get outdoors, but that should not deter your efforts to work out, get your heart rate up and increase your metabolism. On Educate Weights’ facebook  page there is an excellent ‘Ten minute Home Workout’. It is produced by Personal Trainer Grant Davison of Zeusfitness.com. This short clip guides you clearly through some key core exercises.
